outfit post: navy polka-dot tie-neck blouse, mustard pencil skirt, nude pumps

Inspiration - Kendi Everyday

Love how cheery the navy and yellow combination are together. Fun colors to brighten up a grey chilly day.

I'm lucky now in that I don't have to commute to work by walking to the metro during the freezing winter like I did last year when I was working in DC. What I used to do when I had to brave the elements but I wanted to wear not-super-warm outfit like this - I would just wear my flat brown riding boots, really warm high fuzzy socks and my winter coat while I was outside but then switch to fun nude pumps at my desk. (And, just in case, I always have a warm cardigan at my desk for both summer a/c or winter chill.)

You know, I love yellow. It's my fav colour but I hardly have any yellow pieces in my wardrobe as I am not very good at seeing how they'd work. This is a really great way. Thanks for the inspiration!

Just wanted to let you know that I used this photo as my inspiration for the outfit I'm wearing today. Navy blue and white polka dot top, navy flare-bottom skirt, mustard cardi, mustard belt. I never would've thought to pair those two colors together, but they're fabulous!

Now I just need to invest in a mustard skirt like this, and I'll be all set.

    OPC,
Yay fun! I love finding new life in things I already own by combining colors, shapes, ideas differently then I would have thought of before!

I'm just starting to follow your blog and love this outfit. I've seen you have this belt on in quite a few outfits. I love it and when I went to the "shop same" link at Target it doesn't really look the same. Is that the same belt still? Just curious...

Hmmm the 'shop same' link does look slightly different/shinier then my belt. Mine is sort of burnished gold...
